The Israeli army plans to launch a ground invasion in the city of Rafah near the Egyptian border in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military will evacuate more than a million Palestinian civilians from the southern Gaza city of Rafah and provide them with much-needed aid. Only then will they launch an attack on the remaining Hamas combat battalions there. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this on Sunday, March 31, Bloomberg wrote.
“This is the right thing to do both operationally and internationally. It will take time, but it will be done,” he said while speaking to reporters.
He rejected accusations that Tel Aviv was delaying the release of the hostages.
“Whoever said this is wrong and misleading you,” the politician said.
Netanyahu added that the US has ideas about providing aid to Rafah civilians and limiting casualties, and he is ready to listen to them.
As we have already written, Olaf Scholz, during a visit to Israel on Sunday, March 17, announced the “very high cost” of the Israeli offensive against the Hamas group in Gaza.
Following this, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was ready to postpone the previously announced offensive on the city of Rafah.
