There have been positive changes in relations between Kyiv and New Delhi compared to the first year of the large-scale invasion.
India is changing its attitude towards the Russian Federation’s all-out war against Ukraine. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba spoke about this on Friday, March 29, in a telethon.
The diplomat came to this conclusion as a result of his two-day visit to the country.
“The recent conversation between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of India and my presence today in New Delhi are clear evidence of these changes,” Kuleba said.
According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, “perhaps we in Ukraine would like these changes to be faster and clearer, but India has its own foreign policy, its own interests.”
“However, if we compare the state of our relations in the first year of a full-scale war and today, positive changes have occurred,” the diplomat emphasized.
Kuleba said he had a frank and detailed discussion with his colleague Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, during which the parties agreed that the number one task was to restore the level of trade cooperation and the political sphere to pre-war levels. .
The head of the Foreign Ministry named as other tasks the assignment within the framework of the intergovernmental commission to work on new projects and programs to bring relations to a new level, as well as the discussion of the Peace Formula.
The diplomat explained: “What is important here is not only the participation of India itself, but also the participation of those states that will be in the Peace Formula when they see that India is there.”
According to Kuleba, India realizes that relations with Ukraine have a bright future and sees Kyiv as an important partner, which is very important news and a change in position.
“In many ways, we understand each other very well, especially on the border issue, because India’s border is also being questioned and they, like us, are firm and concrete in their position that borders are inviolable. Therefore, there are many point of contact.”, added the Foreign Minister.
We remind you that on March 28-29, Dmitry Kuleba was in India on a visit at the invitation of his Indian colleague Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
It was earlier reported that during the negotiations with India, attention was paid to the Peace Formula and the next steps towards its implementation.
