A representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry assured that Beijing is ready to “play a constructive role in a ceasefire and ceasefire.”
China has insisted it will act on its own initiative to promote a political solution to the war in Ukraine, which it calls a “crisis.” At the same time, Beijing did not comment on Russia’s statements about its alleged readiness for “peace negotiations.” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said this at a briefing in response to a request by Russian propagandists to comment on Moscow’s “peace initiatives” voiced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“China’s position on the “crisis in Ukraine” is consistent and clear. We are always ready to play a constructive role in the ceasefire and fighting and in the political settlement of the “crisis,” the official assured China.
However, he did not utter a word about the Kremlin’s “peace initiatives” about Moscow’s “readiness” for “negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.”
“For a quick political settlement of the crisis, China will continue to promote peace and negotiations on its own initiative,” Lin Jian assured.
Let’s remember that in February of this year, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that “history will judge all the twists and turns of the ‘Ukraine crisis,’ and now the most important thing is to stop the conflict.”
