The Polish side confirmed that Michal Kolodziejczak behaved inappropriately and finally “attacked” his Ukrainian counterparts.
Representatives of Polish associations present at the negotiations between the Ukrainian and Polish government delegations on trade and transit confirm information about the strange behavior of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak. This was reported by Polish publication Onet with reference to comments from Polish participants in the meeting, provided on condition of anonymity.
The parties were close to a compromise when “all of a sudden there was an explosion from Michal,” said one of the participants. During several hours of the meeting, Kolodziejczak was “constantly in and out” of the meeting room, reading something on his smartphone and “doing everything but talking.”
“When we were nearing the end of the negotiations and the Minister (of Agriculture) Sekierski left the room, Michal suddenly attacked the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation, which – I must note – had prepared very well for this meeting.the presentation they showed how much grain was contracted and explained that they cannot violate the contracts concluded last year.
They want Poland to allow the transit of these several hundred tons… These words, rather requests from the Ukrainians for permission to pass through Poland, became the moment when the deputy minister launched the attack, ” the report said.
Representatives of the Polish side explained that “they know how Michal behaved.”
“But for someone who met him for the first time, it can be a shock… It seems bad, because after Kolodziejczak’s “speech” the thread of mutual understanding disappeared. Of course, you have to make your arguments firmly , but you don’t need to do aggression. I don’t know that the meeting will end in an agreement, but the actions of the deputy minister certainly did not bring us closer to it,” said another participant in the meeting.
According to him, Polish associations, after negotiations, spoke with Kolodziejczak about this episode and “hope something will change.”
Representatives of the Ukrainian delegation noticed that he kept running out of the hall, and when he returned, he “attacked them with renewed vigor.” Specifically, him “calls on those gathered to stop the Ukrainians from seizing Polish lands”. Kolodziejczak added that “Don’t try to pity him in the war, he’s not interested in that”.
He also said that if Kyiv does not agree to Poland’s conditions, “Then let Putin take over Ukraine, because that’s what he needs”.
Some Ukrainian participants in the meeting were under the impression that the Polish official was under the influence of “certain substances.”
We remind you that the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk on Thursday, March 28, said that there is progress in the implementation of the plan to unblock the Ukrainian-Polish border for agricultural products.
