President Mahmoud Abbas, who has led the Palestinian Authority for nearly two decades, announced the formation of the new government by presidential decree.
The Palestinian authorities have announced the formation of a new cabinet as they face international pressure to implement reforms. The AP reported it.
“President Mahmoud Abbas, who has led the Palestinian Authority for nearly two decades, announced the formation of a new government by presidential decree today,” the publication said.
News that the new ministers are not popular.
Interestingly, Abbas appointed Mohammad Mustafa, his longtime adviser, as prime minister last month. Mustafa, an independent political economist, has pledged to form a technocratic government and create an independent trust fund to help rebuild Gaza.
More new ministers are from the Gaza Strip, but it is not yet known if they are currently there.
Interior Minister Ziad Hab al-Rikh is a member of Abbas’s secular Fatah movement, and future Jerusalem Affairs Minister Ashraf al-Awar has registered as a Fatah candidate in the 2021 elections, which postponed indefinitely.
