The Czech government on June 27 expanded the national sanctions list to two individuals and one legal entity. The list of restrictions includes former Ukrainian people’s deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, propagandist Artem Marchevsky and the Voice of Europe company. This was stated by Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala, iROZHLAS reports.
These sanctions should hit the pro-Russian network, which was trying to develop an influence operation in the Czech Republic that could potentially affect the security of the Czech Republic and the European Union.
Medvedchuk ran a number of powerful networks in Russia and has personal ties to dictator Vladimir Putin. In the Czech Republic, sanctioned individuals used the “Voice of Europe,” and their activities demonstrate Russia’s long-term efforts to influence democratic processes in Europe. Medvedchuk, Marchevsky and the above-mentioned company sought to influence the political processes in the European Parliament.
Let us remind you that Croatia decided to transfer to Ukraine the 92-meter yacht Royal Romance of Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk. After the value of the vessel is assessed, it will be sold at auction.
