Engineers at Evolve Dynamics are working on technology that could help Ukrainian reconnaissance UAVs operate in the skies despite Russian electronic warfare systems. Such assistance is part of the allies’ support for the Ukrainian drone program. This was reported by Reuters.
It is noted that the new technology will give the Ukrainian Armed Forces an advantage, which has many electronic warfare systems. In particular, the Evolve Dynamics drones and equipment transferred to Kyiv focus on technological advances designed to counter Russia’s electronic warfare capabilities.
The article states that Evolve Dynamics is developing alternative radio algorithms to make it difficult for invaders to jam the signal from its surveillance drones. The authors write that Ukraine and the Russian Federation have stepped up the deployment of electronic warfare systems on the battlefield, which can disrupt the frequencies transmitting commands from the operator to the UAVs, causing them to fall out of the sky or miss their targets.
Evolve Dynamics chief executive Mike Dewhurst called it “a constant game of ping pong.”
Evolve Dynamics now has around 100 Sky Mantis surveillance drones flying in Ukraine, making it one of the UK’s five to 10 major drone suppliers to the Ukrainian defense forces.
Let us recall that in winter the Ukrainian Air Force announced that local communities in Ukraine would have the opportunity to purchase electronic warfare equipment from civilian manufacturers to counter Russian missiles and drones.
