Cigarettes worth 7 million hryvnias seized by the Bureau of Economic Security will be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security exposed a secret cigarette factory on the territory of a dacha cooperative in the Odessa region. Seized cigarettes will be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The BEB press service reported this on Tuesday, March 26.
For illegal production, the suspects were equipped with a basement warehouse. Industrial equipment was installed there with the capacity to produce and package 5,000 cigarettes per hour.
Counterfeit goods are sold throughout Ukraine under the guise of well-known cigarette brands.
As a result of the searches, BEB detectives confiscated 280 thousand packages of tobacco products, an industrial line for the production of cigarettes, and a state-owned packaging machine. The estimated value of the seizure is more than 21 million hryvnias.
Subsequently, it was decided to transfer seized cigarettes and funds received from the sale of equipment to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Also, the defendants in the case voluntarily contributed 150 thousand Hryvnias to the account of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Three members of an organized criminal group were identified on suspicion of illegal production, storage and sale of tobacco products. The case has been sent to court.
We remind you that earlier the State Bureau of Investigation transferred 26 thousand tons of metal products to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which belonged to a company from Belarus.
