The incident occurred on the night of March 26. The US Coast Guard received a report that the almost 290 m long Dali crashed into a bridge support, after which a collapse occurred. The local Transportation Authority said all lanes on the bridge are closed in both directions due to the “incident.” This was reported by The New York Times.
Vessel tracking platform MarineTraffic showed that the container ship of the same name stopped under the bridge and subsequently departed Baltimore towards Sri Lanka.
Sky News reported that emergency crews were searching for at least seven people who may have fallen into the water.
Let us recall that in December 2023, traffic was opened in Kyiv on the Podolsko-Voskresensky Bridge between the right and left banks of the Dnieper. At first, permission to cross the bridge was given to emergency and specialized vehicles. This facility is one of the largest long-term construction projects in Kyiv – it has been under construction since 1993.
