Trump’s bail reduced in fraud case

A New York appeals court has agreed to lower former President Donald Trump’s bail in a civil fraud case from $454 million to $175 million. The New York Times reported it.

The court decided to lower Trump’s bail amount and gave him 10 days to pay a fine of that amount or find bail funds.

The five-judge panel’s decision was a surprise victory for Trump and averted a potential “financial disaster” for him. If the petitions are rejected in full, Trump risks losing control of part of his assets if he does not raise the required amount. The deadline expired on March 25, which is now.

The appeals court also suspended most of the restrictions imposed on Trump and his family’s businesses.

Recall that a New York court found Donald Trump guilty of civil fraud and must now pay $354.9 million plus interest.
