Considering this kind of situation, Poland is strengthening its air defense/missile defense system, said Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamisz.
The Polish military could have shot down the Russian missile if they were confident it was headed for some Polish target. This is what Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamisz said, Ukrinform reported on Sunday, March 24.
“Each such situation is considered individually. But if there were any signs that this object was heading for some target located on the territory of Poland, it was clearly shot down,” he said.
Kosiniak-Kamysh added that because of this type of situation, Poland is strengthening its air defense/missile defense system. Contracts were then signed for the implementation of the second phase of the air defense/PROVISLA program.
According to him, one cannot rely on Russia’s normal behavior and compliance with international law.
In turn, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced that it had sought an explanation from the Russian Federation about the Russian missile’s violation of airspace.
Poland will demand an explanation from the Russian Federation in connection with another violation of the country’s airspace. First of all, we call on the Russian Federation to stop terrorist attacks in the air against the residents and territory of Ukraine, as well as to end the war and deal with the country’s internal problems,” the statement said.
The department expressed its condolences to the victims of the Russian bombing and their loved ones.
“Poland condemns all forms of terrorism and tries to force checks on the borders,” the statement said.
Earlier it became known that this morning a Russian missile violated Polish airspace in the area of the village of Ocerdow, Lublin Voivodeship, and stayed there for 39 seconds.
In turn, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported shooting down 43 enemy targets. In total, the Russians used 29 missiles and 28 drones.
