Since the summer of 2021, migration pressure from the Belarusian side has been observed on the border between Poland and Belarus.
Poland is sending additional troops to the border with Belarus. Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh announced this on Saturday, March 23, wrote the Polish agency PAP.
“We will strengthen the presence of the Polish army in Podlasie, Lublin, Warmia-Masuria and Subcarpathian voivodeships,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
These voivodeships border Belarus, Russia, Lithuania and Ukraine.
The minister explained that the constant presence of the Polish army in the border areas is designed to deter potential adversaries. He also noted that attempts to cross the border illegally have become more frequent recently.
Since the summer of 2021, migration pressure from the Belarusian side has been observed on the border. According to the Border Patrol, there were more than 2,300 attempted illegal border crossings in 2024.
Belarus moved a train with equipment and military personnel consisting of 46 cars to the border with Lithuania.
