On March 31, at three o’clock in the morning, daylight saving time will be introduced by moving the hands of the clock forward one hour.
On the evening of Sunday, March 31, Ukraine will switch to daylight saving time. Ukrainians must set their clocks one hour.
This is stipulated by the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 509 of 1996. On the procedure for calculating time on the territory of Ukraine.
According to the document, every year on the last Sunday of March at 3 o’clock the clock is advanced one hour, on the last Sunday of October – at 4 o’clock.
When the summer and winter seasons change, most electronic devices, such as computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets and others, automatically change their clocks, synchronizing through the Internet.
If the device is not connected to the Internet, the time must be changed manually in the device settings. Mechanical or electronic watches are also manually adjusted.
Note that seasonal clock changes are justified by the need to extend daylight hours to conserve energy and resources. It is believed that the winter season is natural and standard for a certain territory, and they switch to summer time so that the working hours fall as much as possible during daylight hours.
In 2021, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk registered a bill proposing to cancel the seasonal clock change, leaving Ukraine on winter time. Parliament did not pass this law; document sent for revision.
