The Russians used the Kuibyshev oil refinery for military purposes, Yusov said.
The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed that “there was an incident” at the Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara region of the Russian Federation. This is what GUR representative Andrei Yusov said in a telethon on Saturday, March 23.
“We can only say that there was an incident there,” he said, answering a question about the attack on the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery.
At the same time, Yusov added that this oil refinery was used for the needs of the Russian army fighting in Ukraine. “This facility was used for military purposes,” said the GUR representative.
We remind you that tonight in an oil refinery near the city of Novokuybyshevsk, Samara Region of the Russian Federation, an explosion was heard, and then a fire started. According to preliminary data, the plant was attacked by a drone.
Since the beginning of the year, 13 Russian refineries have been attacked. The drone attack led to the year’s biggest weekly increase in global oil prices.
The United States called on Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, as drone attacks on refineries could lead to an increase in world oil prices.
