The transfer of this equipment took place as part of assistance to the Ukrainian people. There are no more such Soviet-made aircraft left in the Czech Republic. Czech Defense Minister Jana Chernokhova announced this on March 21, Deník N reports.
According to the publication, two weeks ago the minister came to the Czech Cabinet of Ministers with a secret document and a proposal to supply Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine. The government secretly approved this initiative.
We no longer have equipment that could be sacrificed,” Chernokhova commented on the transfer of helicopters.
As you know, the Mi-24 “Crocodile” is an attack helicopter, which became the first Soviet specialized combat helicopter, as well as the world’s first serial specialized combat helicopter with a removable landing gear.
Its mass production began in 1971. The Mi-24 has many modifications; this aircraft has been exported to many countries around the world.
Let us recall that last summer the Czech government announced that the country was receiving new helicopters from the United States, and would write off the old Mi-24Vs and transfer them to Ukraine.
Also in July 2023, it became known that Poland transferred 10 Mi-24 combat helicopters to Ukraine, but the transfer of these aircraft was not officially announced.
