For the first time since August of last year, the current head of the White House is ahead of his main rival in the upcoming election.
US President Joe Biden, according to opinion polls, is ahead of his rival in the upcoming election, former President Donald Trump. This is confirmed by the results of surveys published on Thursday, March 21, cited by The Economist.
It was noted that Biden’s rating reached 45%, while Trump’s was 44%.
It should be noted that pre-election polls have limited predictive power, which may differ from the results of voting in elections, the authors of the publication note.
In the past, in all opinion polls, Trump was ahead of Biden by several percentage points.
Biden’s lead over Trump was previously indicated by a 1% poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos. About 39% of registered American voters said they would vote for Joe Biden if the election were held today. Another 38% of respondents would choose Donald Trump, and 11% said they would vote for other candidates. At the same time, the statistical error is 1.8%.
As you know, in January, the poll data showed a huge advantage of Trump over Biden: 40% compared to 34%. But in February, the current leader of the White House narrowed the gap – 37% compared to 34%.
