He said that Ukraine’s existing air defense systems are not enough to protect the entire territory from Russian attacks. At the same time, the leader emphasized that the air defense transferred to Ukraine from the allies preserves the life of Ukrainian cities and villages. Zelensky’s speech on March 21 appeared on the president’s website.
And we are not talking about hundreds of systems, but about an achievable number – to protect the entire territory of Ukraine. “You all know what steps need to be taken,” he noted.
Zelensky thanked the creation of the Ukraine Assistance Fund in the amount of 5 billion euros and for supporting the Czech Republic’s initiative to purchase artillery shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, he noted that “Europe can give more.”
The head of state also said that Ukraine cannot come to terms with the fact that the background for Russian terror is pressure on the country in trade matters. He added that the continuation of the trade liberalization regime with the European Union is not just a matter of certain goods, it is a matter of the ability to resist Russian aggression.
During his speech, the president criticized the import of Russian agricultural products to the European market and noted that Ukrainian grain at this time is thrown onto roads or railway tracks. He considers this situation unfair.
The President stressed that progress is needed in the fair use of Russia’s frozen assets. In addition, he said that the start of negotiations on accession to the EU could significantly support the Ukrainian people and send the right signal to the whole of Europe.
Let us remind you that Deutsche Welle reported that at the EU summit in Brussels it is unlikely that a decision will be made on confiscating proceeds from frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine. Hungary opposes the use of these funds to purchase weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
