The head of Moldova’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, said the photos and videos distributed on the Internet were “part of a disinformation campaign.”
Messages and footage distributed on March 17 about an alleged attack by an unidentified drone on a military unit, specifically a helicopter, in the “capital” of the so-called Transnistrian Moldavian Republic, Tiraspol, are fake. This is what the Minister of Internal Affairs of Moldova Adrian Efros said in an interview with the newspaper Ziarul de Gardă, published on Wednesday, March 20.
“It was an installation, there was no explosion,” the official said.
According to him, this is “part of a disinformation campaign designed to cause panic, fear and instability among citizens.”
He also promised that a more detailed explanation from experts would come out later, but “this is part of a disinformation campaign and an attempt to stir up instability.”
Efros spoke about the incident last weekend at the Russian embassy in Chisinau, where a man threw Molotov cocktails. In his opinion, the person involved in this case may be a provocateur.
“We found out what caused it … It is likely that this incident was not spontaneous, it was thought. We are conducting an investigation and will provide details later,” the minister explained.
The head of Moldova’s Ministry of Internal Affairs added that law enforcement officials are now investigating both incidents.
As we have already written, the unknown “PMR” announced an attack on a military unit.
Later they accused the “destruction of a Mi-8MT helicopter” by a Ukrainian drone.
