Explosions heard in Engels, Russia

Russian authorities reported that on the night of Wednesday, March 20, two drones were allegedly shot down over Engels, Saratov region. According to the SHOT Telegram channel and the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, the air defense is allegedly operating in the region.

It is indicated that there were four explosions in total. Residents of the city say they have heard a siren before.

“From two to four loud explosions were heard, during which the windows were shaken in their frames,” eyewitnesses reported.

At 4.22, Busargin said that the Russian air defense system allegedly took out the UAV over Engels.

According to him, there were no casualties or infrastructure damage from the falling debris.

There is a military air base in Engels. The Tu-160 and Tu-95MS long-range strategic bombers, which carried out attacks in Ukraine, are based there.

The air distance to Engels airport from the borders of Ukraine is 614 km.

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the drone attack in the Russian capital.

A fire broke out in one of the factories in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation as a result of a drone attack.
