Germany also separately contracted another 100 thousand 155 mm ammunition at the national level.
Germany will pay for 180 thousand shells as part of the Czech Republic’s initiative to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said this, NTV reports on Tuesday, March 19.
“The delivery will take place gradually, in stages and will start in the summer,” Pistorius said on the sidelines of the Ramstein format meeting.
He also added that Germany has separately contracted another 100 thousand 155 mm ammunition at the national level. These deliveries to Ukraine are also planned for this year.
Earlier it became known that the Czech Republic received preliminary permission to purchase 200 thousand shells. So, this will be additional ammunition for Ukraine, in addition to the obligatory 300 thousand ammunition within the framework of the Czech initiative. In total, it is planned to deliver 800 thousand shells to Ukraine.
So far, more than 15 countries have pledged to fund the purchase of the shells. So far, Finland is the last to report its contribution.
