A 54-year-old man was detained in Chisinau for throwing two Molotov cocktails on the territory of the Russian Embassy, where a polling station opened for those who wanted to vote in the Russian presidential election. NewsMaker reported this in relation to the police on Sunday, March 17.

It turns out that the detainee is a citizen of Moldova. He himself claims that he is also a citizen of Russia. Right now, Moldovan law enforcement officials are scrutinizing his words. During the interrogation, the man defended his actions by saying that he was not satisfied with the actions of the Russian authorities.

The Russian Embassy condemned the man’s actions, stressing that voting was ongoing.

“We are waiting for a fair and severe punishment for the” flame thrower,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

Today is the third day of the Russian presidential election. The only voting station for Russian citizens in Chisinau was opened on the territory of the Russian Embassy in the city center.

Let’s recall that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova protested to the Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov for opening polling stations in Transnistria on the day of the Russian presidential election.

Also, the Moldovan government accused the Russian Federation of illegally printing ballots in Transnistria.
