The Ministry of Culture expects that by 2030, 80% of Ukrainians will speak the state language in everyday life.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the State Targeted National-Cultural Program for ensuring the comprehensive development and functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language in all spheres of public life until 2030. Its author is the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. It was reported on Friday, March 15, on the department’s website.
It was noted that the program developed by MCIP “will contribute to the gradual formation of a comfortable and functional single language and information space in the Ukrainian language throughout Ukraine.”
“The program is aimed not only at creating conditions for overcoming the consequences of Russification, but also at the development and use of the state language in all spheres of public life. In addition, it covers the step to popularize the Ukrainian language in the world, because the bravest people in the world speak Ukrainian,” – said tu O. Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostislav Karandeev.
The document states that by 2030, all civil servants should speak the state language, in addition, Ukrainian should be the main language of communication in everyday life for 80% of population.
“To do this, it is necessary to meet the private cultural needs of a Ukrainian-language, high-quality cultural product,” the document says.
It was noted that the share of cultural products in the Ukrainian language should increase by 30%: from 55% to 85%.
We remind you that not a single Russian-language song remains on the airwaves of national radio stations in Ukraine. However, there are frequent cases of non-state language use in radio broadcasts.
In 2023, the State Language Protection Commissioner Taras Kremen imposed 21 fines for violating the language law.
