The cemetery will be built in the Kyiv region. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal announced this today, March 15, in his Telegram channel.
These are two plots in the Gatno community of the Fastovsky district of the Kyiv region,” Shmigal noted. “The creation of such a cemetery is very important for our country. We must always remember those who gave their lives for Ukraine in the war for our freedom and independence.
Ukrainian heroes who, at the cost of their own lives, defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine will be buried at the military cemetery.
Earlier, in Cabinet Resolution No. 870 of August 19, 2023 “On the implementation of a pilot project for the design of the National War Memorial Cemetery,” it was noted that the design of a military cemetery on the territory of the Gatno Society should be completed by July 30, 2025.
The document noted that it is planned to allocate two land plots with an area of 258.7298 hectares and 7.9607 hectares for the cemetery.
The press service of the Ministry of Veterans notes that in the near future a decision should be made to transfer more than 265 hectares to the ownership of the National Military Memorial Cemetery.
This will actually mark the beginning of the construction of the first stage of the cemetery. Soon, preparatory work to remove green spaces will begin on the territory of NVMK, the department notes.
