Charles Michel made it clear that he does not consider the re-election of Vladimir Putin a democratic expression of will.
European Council President Charles Michel sarcastically congratulated Russian leader Vladimir Putin on his victory in the pseudo-election that started in the Russian Federation. He wrote this on Twitter (X) on Friday, March 15th.
He made it clear that he does not consider Putin’s re-election as a democratic expression of will.
“I want to congratulate Vladimir Putin on his convincing victory in the upcoming elections. Without opposition. Without freedom. Without choice,” he wrote.
As you know, the so-called “election” of the President on the territory of the Russian Federation will last three days – from March 15 to 17. The Kremlin said that Putin will get more than 80% of the votes. After that, he can stay in power until at least 2030.
Vladimir Putin, 71, has served as president longer than any other Russian leader since Joseph Stalin. He has long surpassed Leonid Brezhnev’s 18-year reign.
Earlier, the Russian Freedom Legion warned that “election” days in the Russian Federation would be “chaotic.” The rebels also called on all residents of the Belgorod and Kursk regions not to use the green corridor to stay in shelters.
