Jens Stoltenberg said there is now no threat to the Alliance as Moscow has deployed ground forces to the Ukraine front.
NATO currently faces no military threat from Russia, as Moscow has committed almost all of its ground forces to the war against Ukraine. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in Brussels at a press conference on Thursday, March 14, in response to journalists’ questions about Russia’s provocative statements and threats of military buildup on Finland’s borders, reports Ukrinform.
“Finland is now more secure than before joining the Alliance, because it is now covered by common defense obligations, according to Article 5 (of the Washington Treaty – ed.), one for all, all for one. Almost all Russian ground forces are involved in an aggressive war against Ukraine, so we do not see any immediate military threat against any NATO ally,” the Secretary assured.
According to him, the Alliance allies will continue to monitor the situation and the further actions of Russia.
The NATO leader emphasized that the organization is capable of protecting any ally, and has successfully carried out this task for 75 years in a row.
As we have already written, Jens Stoltenberg said that the policies of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin experienced a strategic failure because the two countries joined NATO since the beginning of his war against Ukraine, and the state of Ukrainians are closer to membership in the Alliance than ever before.
