The source of the funds is “contract savings from previously appropriated additional funds for the United States Department of Defense.”
US President Joe Biden has commented on the allocation of a new $300 million aid package to Ukraine, including the shipment of ammunition and military equipment, calling it “not enough.” Reuters wrote this on Tuesday, March 12.
Biden noted that it was an emergency aid package, created with funds saved during the execution of the Pentagon’s initial contracts.
“What we approved today is not enough. Congress must immediately pass a bipartisan national security bill that includes aid to Ukraine,” Biden said during talks in Washington with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The White House leader added that we need to act before Vladimir Putin creates a threat to the entire free world.
“Because, as Poland remembers, Russia will not stop in Ukraine. In my opinion, Putin will continue to advance, creating a threat to Europe, the United States and the entire free world,” Biden emphasized.
As you know, the United States has not approved new aid to Ukraine for several months due to disagreements in Congress between Republicans and Democrats over border protection.
In February, the US Senate backed a package providing more than $60 billion for Ukraine, mostly in military aid. But the document was never considered in the House of Representatives because of Speaker Johnson’s refusal to put it to a vote.
Now congressmen are preparing an alternative bill. According to media reports, the vote in Congress could take place in April.
