Democrats in the US House of Representatives have begun collecting signatures to introduce a $95 billion aid bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, bypassing Speaker Mike Johnson.

Reuters reported this on March 12.
Such a petition must be signed by at least 218 members of the House of Representatives – a majority of all 435 members of the lower house of Congress. As of the evening of March 12, there were almost 90 people on the list of those who had joined the petition.
Since October 2023, US House Speaker Mike Johnson has continued to ignore calls from the White House to bring up a Senate bill to vote on aid to Ukraine.
There are 219 Republicans and 213 Democrats in the House of Representatives. If all Democrats sign the petition (and the faction leadership intends to collect all the votes), then only five Republicans will be needed to go against party policy.
