French deputies voted for a statement by French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal on a strategy to help our country and guarantees security.
The French National Assembly (lower house of parliament) supported France’s strategy to support Ukraine and the recently signed agreement on security guarantees. Le Figaro reported this on Tuesday, March 12.
372 deputies of the lower house voted in favor, 99 voted against.
“Voting against means giving Putin all the evidence and signals he is waiting for… Abstention means avoiding your historical responsibility,” French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal emphasized before the vote.
In his speech, Attal noted that France does not fundamentally exclude any options for helping Ukraine.
Let’s recall that during a visit to Europe in February of this year, President Vladimir Zelensky signed an agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine. It will be valid for 10 years or until Ukraine joins the North Atlantic Alliance.
We remind you that on March 10, President Vladimir Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Macron. The heads of state, among other things, discussed their upcoming meeting in Ukraine.
Later it became known that French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Ukraine was postponed because he wanted to bring “tangible results” to Kyiv.
