Reuters wrote about this. One of the officials told the agency that the package would be financed by repaid Pentagon loans. This is the first such step from the United States in recent months, because an additional 61 billion for Ukraine still remains blocked in Congress.
In this case, the publication refers to two American officials. The aid package is due to be announced today.
The Pentagon lacks approximately 10 billion to provide the US troops with weapons to replace those already sent to Ukraine.
To close this shortfall, additional appropriations from Congress are needed, US Department of Defense officials said, Voice of America reported March 12.
We see no alternative source of funds other than [законопроєкт] for additional funding or if funds for the necessary replenishment are added to the appropriations bill, US Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Gicks told reporters.
