Through “fund transfer” payment systems, the largest volume of funds came to Ukraine last year from the United States (18%), Israel (17%), Italy (15%), Germany (9 %) and Ireland (5%) .
In 2023, $11.6 billion equivalent was transferred to Ukraine from abroad, including transfers through official and unofficial channels: banks, international money transfer systems, post offices and unofficial in by transferring money from hand to hand. This was reported by the NBU press service.
Last year, payment systems were actively used both for transferring funds within Ukraine and for receiving money transfers from abroad.
Activities on the territory of Ukraine in 2023 were carried out by 35 “fund transfer” payment systems, of which 26 were created by residents and nine by non-residents (four systems from the USA, three from the UK , one each from Georgia and Canada).
The volume of domestic transfers made through “fund transfer” payment systems in 2023 reached ₴728 billion ($19.9 billion equivalent). This is double the number for pre-war 2021.
The average cost of a transfer within Ukraine is ₴862. The leader in the volume of transfers within Ukraine is the NovaPay payment system (32% of all domestic transfers).
Reportedly, in Ukraine in 2023, $2.6 billion equivalent was transferred using “fund transfer” payment systems (made by both residents and non-residents). This is 17% less than in pre-war 2021. The average cost of such a cross-border transfer in Ukraine is $255.

In terms of the amount of transfers in Ukraine, the leading “fund transfer” payment systems are Western Union (US resident payment organization) – 43.2% of all transfers, MoneyGram (resident payment organization of US) – 21.7% of all transfers and PrivatMoney ( payment organization – JSC CB PrivatBank) – 17.9% of all transfers.
