The head of state emphasized that this documentary shows the truth about Russian terrorism and how the aggressor country brutally attacked Mariupol more than two years ago. And receiving a prestigious award allows you to speak loudly about the Russian war against Ukraine. Zelensky posted a corresponding statement on March 11 on Telegram.
The President also thanked all journalists in the world who understand the importance of covering the truth about the struggle of the Ukrainian people and tell about it.
Zelensky stressed that Ukrainians will never forget every day of this war, every day of Mariupol, its defenders. He added that Ukraine must release from Russian captivity all the defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, whom the occupiers are still holding in inhumane conditions.
I thank each and everyone who is spreading the truth about this war, the bravery of our people and the pain of our people. Truth overcomes everything. And I thank everyone in the world who has supported our state, our people since the first days of this war. Together we must protect life,” the president emphasized.
Let us remind you that Ukraine received an Academy Award for the first time in history. At the Oscars ceremony, the documentary film “20 days in Mariupol” by Ukrainian director Mstislav Chernov was recognized as “Best Feature Documentary”. The film covers the events of the beginning of the full-scale invasion and the Russian siege of Mariupol in February-March 2022.
