In March, the occupiers attacked Mirnograd, Donetsk region, with three universal interspecific glider munitions (UMPB D-30SN), which were S-300 missiles. These advanced guided bombs are essentially a converted version of the Soviet-era FAB unguided bombs. This was reported at the Institute for the Study of War with reference to the speaker of the Tauride group of Ukrainian troops, Captain Dmitry Likhovy.
ISW noted that the Russian army used unguided glider bombs back in January of this year.
Military experts also recalled that the so-called Russian military commanders began to use FAB UMPB air bombs at the front as opposed to the use of unguided glider bombs with unified planning and correction modules (UMPC).
The enemy can launch UMPC bombs both from aircraft and from Tornado-S or Smerch multiple launch rocket systems. The Institute for the Study of War believes that the Russians will try to launch mass production of UMPB guided bombs in order to use these weapons along the entire front line.
Let us remind you that on March 3, Russian aviation dropped a guided bomb on Kurakhovo, Donetsk region. The bomb hit the city center and damaged at least 15 high-rise buildings. 16 people were injured.
