The pilots of the passenger plane did not communicate for about half an hour, which led to a number of navigation errors.
Both pilots of the Indonesian Batik Air plane fell asleep during the flight and did not answer calls for about 30 minutes. The Guardian reported this on Saturday, March 9.
It is known that the pilot and co-pilot slept together for about 28 minutes during the flight from Southeast Sulawesi to the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
The incident resulted in a number of navigational errors, but 153 Airbus A320 passengers and four flight attendants were unharmed during the flight, which lasted two hours and 35 minutes.
Director General of Air Transport Maria Christie Endah Murni said the Ministry of Transportation is “severely reprimanding” Batik Air over the incident.
He called on the airline to pay attention to the rest time of the crew.
“We will conduct an investigation and review of the overnight flight in Indonesia related to fatigue risk management for Batik Air and all flight operators,” Christie said.
It was previously reported that in the United States a passenger with no flying experience landed a plane.
