The Ministry of Defense plans to move away from canned food in packed lunches, replacing them with whole foods.
After many complaints about dry rations for the military, the Ministry of Defense conducted unscheduled inspections of food warehouses. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense Vitaly Polovenko, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reports.
Inspections took place in eastern and central Ukraine. The purpose of the visits is to control the quality and delivery of the daily range of products – dry rations.
Polovenko noted that currently two ration standards are common in the Armed Forces of Ukraine – 10th and 15th. The 10th standard usually consists of canned food and is given for several days, and the 15th is completely prepared with balanced meals.
In particular, the 15th field set includes 14 types of menus with full meals, including borscht, soup, various porridges with meat and vegetables, coffee, tea, honey, jam, rye and wheat crackers , and biscuits. The energy value of a diet should be at least 3500 kilocalories.
These two field kits have different purposes. So, if a military man is going on a business trip for a few days, the 10th standard will be enough. But if the military conducts related tasks and spends several weeks outside the point of permanent deployment, they need the 15th standard.
According to the Deputy Minister, a situation arose where some fighters were offered only dry rations of the 10th standard, that is, canned food.
In addition, he said: the last time the purchase of dry rations of the 15th standard took place at the end of 2022. The entire batch was seized due to non-compliance with laboratory requirements.
In the future, the Ministry of Defense plans to completely replace canned food with whole foods. Also, the Logistics Forces Command should create a requirement for the purchase of 15th standard rations.
We remind you that earlier representatives of the Ministry of Defense conducted a surprise inspection of food warehouses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The reason was complaints from the military.
