Local residents tried to save the children, but the armed men pushed them back, one person was killed.
In the city of Kuriga in Nigeria on March 7, armed militants kidnapped 287 school students. This is the biggest mass abduction in the city since 2021. The BBC writes about it.
The robbery took place shortly after the school’s morning assembly. Dozens of armed men on motorcycles drove through the school grounds and took away the students, aged between eight and 15, along with their teacher.
The mass kidnapping was confirmed by the governor of Kaduna State. The official said 187 secondary school students and 125 elementary school students were missing, but 25 of them have since returned.
The teacher, who managed to escape, said local residents tried to save the children, but they were pushed back by armed men, and one person was killed.
It is worth noting that almost every family in the city has abducted children. The Nigerian Armed Forces launched a search operation for the students.
We remind you that in the town of Taxco in Mexico, three journalists and two of their relatives were kidnapped a few days later.
