He stated this today, March 8, at a press conference after a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Istanbul.
We are ready to host a peace summit in which Russia will also be involved. We are doing everything to achieve peace through diplomacy,” he said.
Zelensky, reacting to this statement, emphasized that Ukraine does not see Russian representatives at this summit.
We don’t see how you can invite people who block, destroy and kill everything. We want to get results. The result is a just peace for Ukraine. Therefore, first, civilized countries will develop a plan, and then they will attract representatives of Russia who want a just world,” he noted.
Zelensky noted that today he discussed the Ukrainian “peace formula” with Erdogan. In particular, he informed Erdogan about the preparations for a peace summit at the leader level.
Turkey’s special role deserves the leadership of your state to be demonstrated at the peace summit for the full implementation of the peace formula, Zelensky believes.
