The citizens are being received in a hotel in Egypt and will soon be transported to Ukraine.
On March 7 and 8, another group of Ukrainian citizens was evacuated from the Gaza Strip. They were temporarily stationed in Egypt. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel.
“On March 7-8, the next phase of the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from the Gaza Strip took place,” the statement said.
It was found that 59 Ukrainian citizens and members of their families (15 children, 37 women, 8 men) were released through the Rafah checkpoint on the territory of Egypt.
“Thanks to the efforts of representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and diplomatic staff of the Ukrainian embassies in Israel and Egypt, the evacuation was successful, the citizens were accommodated in a hotel in Egypt, and they will be delivered to Ukraine in the near future,” said the embassy.
As you know, on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian radical group Hamas, based in Gaza, attacked Israel. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched a military operation against Hamas.
Let’s recall that on December 10, 2023, it was announced that Ukraine completed a special operation to rescue citizens from the Gaza Strip. It is possible to evacuate 315 people: 304 Ukrainians, two Palestinians, nine citizens of Moldova.
