In Canada, a 19-year-old student from Sri Lanka killed six compatriots who had just arrived in the country. Among the victims were four children. CBC News reported this on Thursday, March 7.

Police identified the five victims as a family of newcomers to Canada from Sri Lanka. It was a 35-year-old woman and her four children, ages 7, 4, 2, and a two-month-old baby.
An acquaintance of the family, a 40-year-old man, was also killed. Another man was injured and is in stable condition in hospital.
The suspect was identified as Febrio De Zoysa, a 19-year-old Sri Lankan citizen. He was charged with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Police had earlier reported that he was a student in Canada. The reasons for his actions have been clarified.
It was learned that the suspect, De Zoysa, knew the murdered family and lived in the same house when the murder happened. He was arrested 15 kilometers from the center of Ottawa.
This massacre was one of the most tragic in Ottawa’s history.
Asked about the incident Thursday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences.
