Latvia has decided to join the Czech initiative to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
Latvia has joined the Czech initiative to buy ammunition for Ukraine. About that reported the country’s Minister of Defense Andris Spruds on the social network X on Wednesday, March 6.
“This is the most important opportunity to defeat Russia, and we must do everything possible to support Ukraine,” the minister wrote.
Let’s remember that the previous Czech President Petr Pavel said that his country found 800 thousand shells that could be bought for Ukraine. According to him, the shells can be delivered in a few weeks, but this requires funding.
The initiative is a fallback option because the European Union failed to fulfill its promise to provide Ukraine with one million artillery shells by March.
France and Germany said they would participate in the purchase of artillery ammunition as part of the Czech President’s initiative.
