According to the Greek publication Protothema, the target of the missile was Zelensky’s motorcade, which at the time of the impact was 150 m from the location of the Greek delegation.
According to the publication, no one from the Greek delegation, which in addition to the prime minister includes eight more people and security, was injured.
The meeting between Mitsotakis and Zelensky took place as usual.
The Greek Prime Minister arrived in Ukraine this morning in extreme secrecy to stay for a few hours before heading to Bucharest for the European People’s Party summit.
Zelensky subsequently stated that he saw this strike, and there were dead and wounded, reports “Public”.
We saw this blow today. You see who we’re dealing with, they don’t care where to hit. I know that there were casualties today, I don’t know all the details yet, but I know. that there are dead and injured,” he noted.
Zelensky emphasized that the Russian army does not care where to hit – military or civilian:
These are military, civilian, international guests – these people don’t care. They are either crazy or completely out of control that their terrorist army is operating. This suggests that we, first of all, need to defend ourselves. The best thing is the air defense system.
At the time of the attack, he and Mitsotakis were in the Odessa port. According to the Greek Prime Minister, the explosions occurred close to them:
President Zelensky and his staff showed us and explained the importance of the port and what is being done to restore and strengthen the Ukrainian maritime route and what damage it suffered during the attacks. Already at the very end we heard the sound of sirens and explosions very close to us. We didn’t have time to go to a protected place, it was a very impressive experience.
