In addition, the French authorities will help deliver these ammunition to Ukraine. President Emmanuel Macron announced this on March 5 at a press conference with Czech President Petr Pavel, Le Figaro reported.
France has accelerated and increased its ammunition production in Europe and has already delivered stockpiles, Macron said. However, he stressed that we need to “go beyond what we can develop” and look in third countries for opportunities to replenish the arsenal.
Macron also called on allies to take a “strategic leap forward” against the “turbulent spirit of defeat.”
Let us recall that in February, Czech President Petr Pavel, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, said that the Czech Republic had discovered 800 thousand shells for Ukraine from potential suppliers outside the EU.
The Netherlands was the first to respond to this proposal, promising to provide 100 million euros for the purchase of ammunition. Belgium also announced that it would take part in the purchase of ammunition, allocating 200 million euros for this. In addition, Lithuania also joined the Czech initiative.
