Teixeira agreed to plead guilty to all six counts of knowingly storing and transmitting information.
Former Massachusetts National Guard soldier Jack Teixeira, 22, pleaded guilty on March 4 to a charge of leaking secret Pentagon documents and agreed to a 16-year prison sentence. ABC News reports.
According to the plea agreement Teixeira signed and filed in court, he agreed to plead guilty to all six counts of knowingly storing and transmitting secret state information.
Prosecutors agreed not to file additional charges against him under the Espionage Act.
As part of the plea agreement, Teixeira must appear for questioning by the US Department of Defense and the US Department of Justice, and also turn over any material that may still remain in his possession.
Let’s recall that at the beginning of April 2023, a large number of secret Pentagon documents related, in particular, to the war in Ukraine, were leaked online. The Ministry of Justice and the FBI became involved in clarifying the circumstances of the incident.
Following an investigation that lasted nearly a week, 21-year-old US Air National Guard soldier Jack Teixera was taken into custody. He was accused of leaking top-secret military intelligence data and accused of illegally copying and transferring classified materials.
