Rome explained this decision by saying that “he was needed elsewhere.” Fico called on the Slovak President to convince Italy to leave SAMP/T.
Italian authorities have informed Slovakia of their intention to withdraw their SAMP/T air defense system. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced this on Facebook.
According to him, Rome explained this decision by saying that “he was needed elsewhere.” Which is not specified.
Italy lends SAMP/T to Slovakia every year. Fico added that before his election as prime minister, the country’s government provided Ukraine with a working Russian S-300 air defense system.
“Then we had American Patriots here, but they left, and now the Italians are leaving. And I ask: Lord, who will guard our nuclear power plants and other strategic facilities?” – said Fico.
He also called on Slovak President Zuzana Caputova to convince Italy to keep SAMP/T in the country.
Let’s remember that in January Robert Fico said that the only way to end Russia’s war against Ukraine is to give the Russians part of the Ukrainian territories.
