In various Russian cities on Friday, March 1, more than 120 people were detained who took part in events in memory of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, whose funeral took place that day, the report of OVD-info.
The largest number of detainees are in Novosibirsk (at least 31 people), Yekaterinburg (19 people) and Moscow (17 people). Also, several people were detained in St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Voronezh and other cities.
In Moscow, the arrests took place right next to the church where Navalny’s funeral was held and the Borisov cemetery, where he was buried. In other cities, people gathered to honor politics with spontaneous memorials.
Meanwhile, The Moscow Times reported that in Moscow, Navalny’s funeral turned into a protest against the war. A few hours after the funeral, the crowd did not disperse and shouted anti-war slogans.
In particular, they shouted: “Bring the soldiers home,” “Putin will die with us,” “Heroes never die.”
It was previously reported that in various Russian cities on the day of Navalny’s funeral, police detained approximately 56 people.
