Voyages of ships that delivered more than 2.5 million artillery shells to Russia were suspended.
Ships carrying missiles from North Korea to Russia have been docked for several weeks. South Korean publication NK Pro reported this with reference to satellite images.
The authors of the publication believe that this may be due to production problems or other reasons.
In total, four ships delivered ammunition to the Russian Federation: Angara, Maya-1, Maria and Lady R. These ships, according to the portal, made at least 32 trips to the DPRK. The last Maya-1 ship called at the North Korean port of Rason on February 12, Lady R on February 4. North Korea also did not deliver containers to the export pier during this period.
It was noted that the containers, which were delivered by the ships Maya-1 and Lady R in early February, have remained at the pier in recent weeks. According to analysts, this indicates that “they are empty or there is no urgent need to transport them to their destinations in North Korea.”
Satellite images also indicate that no containers were brought to the port of Rason by train from the interior regions of the DPRK.
“The operation may have been suspended due to a production stoppage in North Korea or other logistical problems. It also cannot be denied that weapons are being transferred to Russia by air or rail across the common land border of the two countries ,” the material. said.
On February 28, a CSIS (Center for Strategic and International Studies) report said that analysts had identified an ammunition supply route from North Korea to Russia using satellite imagery taken since August 2023. Ship traffic continued to between Rason in North Korea and the Danube and Vostochny ports in Russia. These flights facilitated the transportation of more than 2.5 million artillery shells and other ammunition.
Previously, the South Korean Ministry of Defense reported that North Korea sent about 6,700 containers to Russia, likely containing three million 152 mm shells. Russia supplies North Korea with food, raw materials and parts used to make weapons.
Ukraine’s security service documented the Russians’ use of missiles from North Korea during air strikes on Ukraine.
