According to the French publication Le Monde, “the idea of allowing military instructors to cross the Ukrainian border with other units is at the center of reflection.”
A French military presence could protect some territories of Ukraine and limit attacks from the occupiers.
All union states are located in Ukraine. These are not combat units, but there are, for example, representatives of the special services. If there is a supply of weapons, there must be people physically providing information on how to use the equipment. The actions of these services are by their nature secret and therefore not subject to the laws of war, said Vincent Crouzet, a former official at the French Directorate General for External Security.
Meanwhile, Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair said that the Canadian military could conduct training for the Ukrainian military.
We train Ukrainians everywhere, but it’s hard to take people out of Ukraine to undergo training. So we discussed how to do this more effectively and whether it could be done in Ukraine,” Blair said.
Emmanuel Macron wants to gather the leaders of all parties in the French parliament to discuss the war in Ukraine, Le Figaro reports.
The publication writes that the French president, “isolated among Western countries after statements about the potential dispatch of ground troops to Ukraine,” wants to raise this topic at a meeting with the leaders of French parties.
Let us remember that for his words about the possible sending of troops to Ukraine, Macron was criticized by many in France (especially in the opposition), and the ministers were forced to justify themselves and clarify that in fact there are no such plans.
At the same time, the media write that the idea of sending French special forces to Ukraine is being discussed.
