“The defense there should be facilitated by the land itself: there is a cascade of reservoirs, and this is the chosen priority. So, the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of Avdeevsky continue to conduct a defense operation, ” said Likhovoy.

The spokesman said that the Russians tried to advance with the support of artillery, mortars, FPV drones and aviation, but it did not work as they had planned.

“Not everything is as simple as it seems to one person, what is happening in this direction for the enemy – near the village of Orlovka, Russian attack groups are blocked from approaching the village or the outskirts its environment,” Likhovoy clarified. .

Let’s recall that on the night of February 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, announced the decision to withdraw Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka, which was under threat of enemy encirclement.

About 700 residents of Avdeevka refused to leave the city and thus found themselves under occupation.
