The White House commented on the words of the French President about the possible sending of troops to Ukraine in the future.
The United States will not send its soldiers to participate in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. This was said by the representative of the National Security Council, Adrienne Watson, reports Le Monde.
“President Biden has made it clear that the United States will not send troops to fight in Ukraine,” he stressed.
Watson noted that the US President believes that Ukraine’s success requires military assistance, which Congress has blocked.
Thus, the White House responded to the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron, who said that sending Western military personnel to Ukraine in the future cannot be abandoned.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assured that there are currently no plans to station European troops on Ukrainian territory.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the appearance of NATO troops on the territory of Ukraine would lead to a direct conflict between the Alliance and Russia.
