He announced this today, February 26, at a conference in Berlin, RND reports.
He explains this decision by the risk of Germany being involved in the war.
We should under no circumstances be associated with the goals that this system achieves,” Scholz emphasized. “It surprises me that some people don’t think at all about whether what we are doing could, in some sense, lead to participation in the war.”
Scholz believes that Germany should not match what the British and French are doing in terms of missile transfers.
Taurus missiles can hit targets at a distance of up to 500 km with high accuracy.
This weapon is very long range. And what the British and the French are doing in terms of control of targets and concomitant control of targets cannot be done in Germany. Everyone who has dealt with this system knows this,” he noted.
Scholz said he was “very annoyed” by the debate over weapons systems alone when Germany was providing so much military assistance. The Chancellor is confident that many Germans hope that he will not be extorted.
What Ukraine lacks is ammunition of all possible lengths and distances, but not this important thing from Germany,” he emphasized.
