These funds will go to the Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells, because Prague has found about 800 thousand shells, but will seek funding to transfer them to Ukraine. This was announced by Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
The head of the Dutch government expressed hope that other countries will support this initiative. And he emphasized that the countries that will provide shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces asked not to name them.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said nearly 15 countries have expressed interest in the initiative, which is focused on finding urgently needed artillery ammunition for Ukraine on world markets.
Let us recall that on February 17, Czech President Peter Pavel said that the Czech Republic had found a way to obtain 800 thousand shells for Ukraine – outside the EU it is possible to purchase half a million 155 mm shells and 300 thousand 122 mm shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He emphasized that the Ukrainian army could receive this ammunition in a few weeks, but funding still needs to be found for their transfer.
